The Calm Delivery Community

A place where delivery people help other delivery people chat through a particular problem, get support, and find encouragement when it’s needed.

The quality of delivery management matters. But right now, the pipeline is broken. Entry-level roles are scarce, and people are stepping into senior positions sometimes without tons of experience. It can feel tough, but you’re not alone.

The Calm Delivery Community is my way of trying to change that. I want to help fix this by connecting people facing a specific delivery problem with a peer who can chat and guide them through a path to solve it.

How it works

1. Submit a thing

Submit a distinct problem you are facing and need help with. It could be worries about an upcoming service assessment, advice to get you through a job application, a gnarly stakeholder issue, team morale dipping, or something else.

2. Get matched

I’ll look through a list of trusted people that I know and match you with a person from the community to help guide you.

They’ll have the experience of the question you have or the challenge you’re facing.

3. Arrange a chat

Your guide will contact you directly to arrange a focused 30-minute (max) call to help chat through the problem and get you moving again.

No ongoing commitments on either side

What you can be supported with

  • Government and public sector - GDS assessments, business cases, spend control, acronyms

  • Career transition - Getting into delivery, shifting from mid-weight to senior DM

  • People and culture - Resolving conflict, stakeholder pressure, burnout

  • Technical delivery - Complex architectures, legacy migrations, dev dynamics

  • Delivery mechanics - Fixing broken planning processes, setting up new teams, and navigating governance

A few small rules to respect everyone's time

  • It’s one call: It is a single 30-minute tactical call, not an ongoing mentorship.

  • Be clear of the ask: You must clearly articulate your question, challenge or issue before the call so your guide can give maximum help.

  • No ghosting: People are donating their own time, so missing a session isn't cool. Please give 48 hours' notice if you can't make an arranged call, either way.
